One of the joys of Easter are the countless Easter egg trails for kids that take place up and down the country. Many of them are free or ask for a small fee and it means that you are able to get out and about with them over the Easter holidays AND stock up on yummy Easter eggs!
Kids love following the clues that eventually lead them to the secret horde of eggs and many events also have other organised activities that will keep them happy all day!
There are now dedicated websites that will help you track down local Easter egg hunts and activities such as the Cadbury’s Easter Egg Trail made in partnership with the National Trust. Visit some of Britain’s finest properties and gardens whilst hunting for those elusive Easter eggs!
Each child is guaranteed a Cadbury Egghead and there are also face painters, games and play areas at some of the locations such as at Hanbury Hall in Droitwich Spa.
Some National Trust properties, which were closed over winter, throw open their doors at Easter and there are many more Easter surprises in store on the National Trust website which has lots of ideas for family days out.
Those living in the North West can join in the Easter fun at Rufford Old Hall in Lancashire for an Easter craft session and even a gnome hunt!
If you are lucky enough to live in the London area then you can search Easter Egg Hunts London for all the trails and activities happening near you, such as the Easter Egg Hunt at Kew Gardens complete with a giant Easter bunny, gorgeous spring flowers and of course plenty of Easter eggs!

Easter Traditions Around the World
We might take it for granted that Easter egg hunts and Easter bunnies are all part of the spring tradition but some countries celebrate Easter in a very different way!
- In Finland you’d be forgiven for thinking it was Halloween as children wander the streets dressed as urchins and carrying broomsticks!
- Polish people have a rather bizarre tradition of pouring water over each over in what is known as Smingus-Dyngus!
- The French town of Haux will be hoping for yet another world record as they mix over 4,000 eggs in the square to make a giant omelette which is then shared out for the watching crowd to tuck into!
- Latvian children obviously can’t wait until the autumn to play conkers, so they use hard boiled eggs instead!
- And in America they have the world famous White House Easter Egg Roll
